DR. JOSE B. MANIWANG, Ph.D., RC, Mcrim. WSO-CSSD
The late DR. JOSE B. MANIWANG PhD was one of the well-known personalities in the field of security and criminology. He was known as the “Father of Philippine Security”. As a World War II veteran, he first established his business of private security agency named as National Intelligence and Security Service in 1950. On June 23, 1971 he reorganized the agency and it became known as the Security & Safety Corporation of the Philippines. The incorporators were well-known doctors in academics, deans and criminology educators in the Philippines with the vision and mission to promote professionalism in the security industry through education, academic researches and providing trained, disciplined and highly motivated security force. He was given recognition by the American Society for Industrial Security (International) for his efforts in promoting security professionalism in the Philippines and Southeast Asia.

- Awardees of a Certificate of Merit, by the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) USA, in appreciation for his meritorious service to the society for years of dedicated efforts in the development of members and chapters in the Philippines & Southeast Asia and for promoting professionalism of security in Asia.
- Certificate of Outstanding Merit and Service, by the World Safety Organization (WSO) USA for devotion to excellence and the dedication to the protection of people, property, resources and the environment while serving as a Member of the WSO Board of Directors.
- The Philippine Centennial Karangalan Ng Lahi Award in 1998.
- Most Outstanding Professional in the Field of Criminology award given by the Professional Regulation Commission, Manila, Philippines in 2000.
- The former Regional Vice-President of Eastern Asia for the American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS) International, Washington DC, USA, for eighteen (18) years.
- Professor in Criminology and Police Science with the Philippine College of Criminology, Manila for 20 years.
- He was the President of the Philippine Educators Association for Criminology Education (PEACE) for three consecutive terms.
- The former Vice-President and Board Member of the World Safety Organization (WSO), Warrensburg, Missouri, USA.
- Two term President of the Professional Criminologists Association of the Philippines (PCAP), Manila.
- He was a member of the Technical Panel of Expert Consultants on Criminology Education of the Bureau of Higher Education, Department of Education, Republic of the Philippines, Manila.
- He was the Chairman of the Regional Quality Assessment Team, of the DECS Commission on Higher Education Region III.
- He was the former president of the Philippine Association of Detective and Protective Agency Operators (PADPAO).
- A former Army Intelligence Officer during World War II under the United States Army Forces in the Far East (USAFFE).
- His book Manual for Security Guards had become a foremost reference for security guards in the Philippines.
COMPANY HIGHLIGHTS
- Security & Safety Corporation of the Philippines was established on June 23, 1971.
- The company was awarded the Most Outstanding Security Agency of the Year in 1989, 1992 and 1999.
- In 1985, Dr. Maniwang organized the Security and Safety Training Center, Inc., or SSTCI, with the forethought of providing professionalized training for security guards.
- SSTCI was awarded as Security Training Center of the Year for 1989, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2001 and 2002, a major feat that made the school a hall of famer in security trainings.
- SSCP was a recipient of Award of Participation to Gabay Circle given by the Productivity Improvement Circles Association of the Philippines during their PIC National Convention held last October 6, 1988 (under the auspices of Johnson & Johnson Phil., Inc.).
- On April 4, 2003, SSTCI was reorganized to be known as Industrial Detective and Security Training School, Inc., or IDSTSI.
